Our Programs
What We Build Together
Three programs. One through-line: people with disabilities becoming visible as neighbors, contributors, advocates, workers, and stewards of the Gulf Coast we share.
WAVES brings disabled adults into civic spaces — including city council and county meetings — as an organized group. Participants learn how local government works, prepare questions, speak on the public record, and submit formal written requests about real access issues in the community. WAVES is the doorway: a place to build confidence, relationships, and public voice before the next opportunity begins.

"Voice that moves communities."
ROOTS is a planned community growing site where participants will grow, harvest, and distribute fresh produce while building real work skills — punctuality, task sequencing, team coordination, communication, and environmental awareness. ROOTS is being designed to be public, accessible, and rooted in Freeport, with the civic relationships built through WAVES helping open the way.

"Skills that anchor a future."
PEARLS is Salt & Sky’s planned Gulf Coast oyster shell recycling and reef restoration program. Participants will collect shells from local restaurants, cure them, bag them, and help prepare them for restoration work along Brazoria County shorelines — building real work skills while contributing visibly to the coast they live on. PEARLS builds on the confidence, relationships, and hands-on skills developed through WAVES and ROOTS.

That is occupational therapy thinking — applied not only in a clinic, but in city council chambers, community gardens, and Gulf Coast shorelines.
