Accessibility & Privacy

We design every digital touchpoint to support inclusive access and responsible information use for our Brazoria County community.

If something is hard to use, unclear, or creates a barrier, we want to hear from you and improve it together.

Accessibility statement

Inclusive access is part of how we build community.

Salt & Sky is committed to making our website usable for as many people as possible, including disabled community members, families, and partners across Brazoria County.

Commitment to usability

We design and maintain this site with accessibility in mind — clear structure, readable content, keyboard-friendly interaction, and practical compatibility with assistive technologies.

Conformance target

Our current target is conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we use this standard to guide design, content, and ongoing updates.

Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-time task. We regularly review this site, prioritize fixes, and improve based on real community feedback.

If you encounter a barrier, please contact Salt & Sky so we can help and make it better.

Accessibility in practice

Concrete measures already in place

We build for inclusion from the start, so everyone can navigate clearly, participate confidently, and get support quickly.

Skip links

A visible skip link lets keyboard users jump straight to main content.

Heading structure

Pages follow a logical heading order for screen readers and quick scanning.

High contrast

Text and controls are styled for readable contrast across key surfaces.

Alt text

Images include meaningful alt text so visual context is available to all users.

Visible focus states

Keyboard focus is always clear on links, buttons, and form elements.

Reduced motion support

Animations respect reduced-motion preferences for calmer, safer browsing.

Responsive layout

Content reflows cleanly from mobile to large screens without loss of clarity.

Accessible links & support tools

Link text is descriptive, with clear paths to Accessibility & Privacy and Contact.

Feedback and support

If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need support, please let us know so we can help.

Alternative formats are available on request. We typically respond within 3 to 5 business days.

Accessibility & Privacy

Privacy policy in plain language

We keep this simple on purpose: what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Open any question below for details.

1) Who is Salt & Sky?

Salt & Sky is an early-stage nonprofit serving Brazoria County and the Brazosport region. We create community-designed opportunities for disability inclusion, civic voice, meaningful work, and coastal stewardship.

2) What information do you collect?

We collect information you choose to share, such as your name, email, organization, message content, and participation interests. We may also collect basic website analytics (like page visits) to understand what helps people find and use our site. If you email us at hello@saltandsky.org, we keep your message so we can respond.

3) How do you use information?

We use information to reply to questions, coordinate programs and partnerships, share updates you ask for, improve accessibility, and strengthen community outreach. We only use personal details in ways connected to our mission and relationship with you.

4) How is data stored, and do you share it?

We store information using reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. We may share limited data with trusted service providers (for example, secure email or forms tools) only to operate our work. We do not sell personal information.

5) What choices and rights do users have?

You can ask what information we have, request corrections, ask us to delete information when appropriate, or opt out of future updates. We will respond in a timely, respectful way and explain any limits we need to follow.

6) How do you handle children's privacy?

Our website is designed for general audiences and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child shared personal information with us, contact us and we will review and remove it when needed.

7) What about links to other websites?

We may link to partner or resource websites for convenience. Their privacy practices are separate from ours, so we encourage you to read their policies before sharing personal information.

8) How will we share policy changes?

As our nonprofit grows, we may update this policy to reflect new tools, programs, or legal requirements. We will post updates on this page with clear language and a revised date so changes are easy to track.

9) How can I contact Salt & Sky with privacy questions?

Email us anytime at hello@saltandsky.org. You can ask a question, request a correction, or share a concern. We aim to respond promptly and work with care and transparency.
